Network Engineer - Yellowbrick

Location - Huntsville, AL

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for classified & unclassified hardware & software integration, network connectivity, mission support across distributed locations & analysis user services.
    • Identify, analyze, & resolve complex analysis infrastructure problems to support core test & performance analysis function
    • Coordinate with external organizations to manage day-to-day analysis infrastructure operations; Manage near-term & long-term analysis infrastructure requirements to ensure Strategic Infrastructure Plan supports future BMDS development & testing
    • Analysis infrastructure operation includes management of data storage capacity, user account privileges, upgrades & configuration control of analyst hardware & software requirements
    • Install and maintain Cloudera-Hadoop from ground up with SDLC cycle methodology including Dev, Test and Production
    • Provide infrastructure and support to software developers to rapidly iterate on their products and services and deliver high-quality results
    • Monitor and coordinate all data system operations, including security procedures, and liaison with infrastructure, security, DevOps, Data Platform and Application team
    • Apply proper architecture guidelines to ensure highly available services
    • Provide technical design solutions & recommendations on software & hardware initiatives storage space & suggest hardware improvements

Minimum Qualifications (Required skills):

  • BS degree from accredited college/university in computer engineering, computer science, or related technical field and 10 years of related exp, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5 years of experience in enterprise network Infrastructure and related technology stack
  • Solid track record with prior technical roles in database administration
  • Experience in technical management and operations of enterprise data warehouse platforms (Yellowbrick, Postgres, Teradata, Netezza, Vertica, Greenplum, HANA, Oracle, SQL Server or similar)
  • Good understanding of distributed database architecture (compute nodes, servers, storage, networking, management processes, distribution, alerting, etc)
  • Good understanding of complex database workloads, SQL analytics, database administration, and ETL / ELT processes.
  • Experience with schema design - 3NF, Star and Snowflakes, tuning joins, aggregates, partitioning and concurrency.
  • Experience with database connectivity - ODBC, JDBC and ADO
  • Experience with major analytics visualization platforms preferred (Tableau for example)
  • Experience with operating system internals problem resolution: Network, storage, compute
  • Experience with Linux systems administration, shell scripting and/or other scripting languages
  • Experience with multiple operating systems (IBM, Unix, Linux, Windows) and languages (C#, python)
  • Highly responsive and possess great problem-solving and communication skills
  • Knowledge of common software source control practices & processes (includes knowledge of TEAMs, Atlassian &/or SVN repositories)
  • Ability to operate independently or as part of a team
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance
  • Ability to occasionally lift to 20 pounds
  • Continuous mental and visual attention, constant alertness, or activity
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer using hands and fingers

Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills):

  • Master's degree from an accredited college/university in computer engineering, computer science, or related technical field
  • Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Database Administration Platform Experience
  • Experience in Large Analytic Tools with Machine Learning
  • Experience working in a DevOps, CI/CD environment
  • Experience setting up service-oriented architecture with secured access
  • DoD Information Assurance policies & processes experience
  • Ability to integrate into customer environment & understand customer processes & provide recommendations on technical capabilities to increase capabilities/gain efficiencies
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification with Windows Server or SQL server certification
  • Knowledge of BMDS message specs or components
